Thanksgiving 2010

I was pretty ambitious this Turkey day! Not only did I participate in a Turkey Trot that morning, but we hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year. Our friends that Bivens came over and we held up our yearly tradition of feasting together. This was actually our 4th Thanksgiving together and the first one held at my house.

The food was great! But all in all, it was a really chaotic experience for me. I think I ended up taking on way to much of the cooking myself.
Don't mind Eric, he's trying to be creepy here!
Here's my plate! Filled with sweet potato casserole, a cranberry glazed turkey, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, gravy and a bread role!  Oh, and stuffing, which I almost forgot to make entirely!

Next year, I will seriously consider having Whole Foods make most of the meal for us so I can focus more on wine and socializing and less on recipes and ingredient lists!Hope your Thanksgiving was a great one!

  1. 1. im very impressed with all of your cooking ash!
    2. is the turkey covered in bbq sauce? it kinda looks like it..
    3. mac & cheese? this is a new addition to thanksgiving. is this the couple that has a baby?
    4. i like how you specify bread in front of roll.
    5. Dont outsource to whole foods. Here are a few suggestions:
    - Split the work with your friends and have them bring some dishes.
    - Dont make as many sides. If you have sweet potatoes, you dont need mashed.
    - Try to make something in advance. One less thing to worry about on the day of Thanksgiving.
    6. the sweet potatoes look sooo good!

  2. 1. Thanks Melis! 2. Actually, the turkey is covered in a Cranberry glaze. It was good, but since it really only impacts the turkey's skin, I kind of feel like the extra work was a waste of time. 3. The mac & cheese addition is from the Bivens' side of this Thanksgiving. Eric makes it every year. And no, this is the couple that is from the Jackson area of Michigan. They are both Spartans just like you and E! 4. It's good to clarify :) 5. I think I would just outsource the turkey. It takes up my oven for too much time. 6. They were!! I can't pass up doing that casserole! To me mashed potatoes are optional, but I had Eric make them.
    7. While I was writing this the song Merry Christmas Happy Holidays from the classic holiday album, N*Sync Home for Christmas came on my Pandora playlist and I saw it as a sign that I should be talking to you right now, of course right after I gave it a big thumbs up!
