Twinsies

Christmas Eve 2011 brought us twins in the form of my dad and Eric. Playful posing quickly went from this:
to this:
I still am unsure about what happened here, but it gives me a good laugh.
Dan also joined the white T trend on his own terms
Obviously it's been a very good year. Happy New Year to all! Hopefully regular posting will begin again soon :)

Remember

When Melissa's eye got all red
and she walked around in sunglasses for the entire day?
but then accidentally took them off in the subway?
yeah... me too.

Miss your face

I've edited about .05% of my photos from our trip. I plan to continually post randoms until I'm done.

Summer Cleaning

In preparation for our European vacation, Dan and I went through his clothes this past weekend to determine what he had that still fit and looked good, what needed to go to the tailor, what could be donated and what could just be retired to the trash.

Somehow the stars aligned and we were both fully gung-ho about going through his entire wardrobe! It's a good thing too, since I don't think we've done a major clean out in the entire 7+ years we've been together.

We took some breaks to really admire some treasures from Dan's college days:

But overall we stayed on course and ended up with a huge donation to the local Goodwill :)
Now we know exactly what he's got, and where we need to focus our efforts on the shopping front :)

A Giant Ship with Fighter Planes aka... A Boy's Playground

So with all of the running talk and training that has been happening, I have neglected to post about some of the other stuff that I have been up to over the past few months.

While last year's Spring Break trip to Cabo will be a hard one to beat, we still managed to have an awesome vacation on a much more limited budget. This year, we spent part of the week in beautiful San Diego. What a great city! Neither of us had ever been before and we loved it! We pretty much ate and drank our way through it and had the best time. Our friend's Mike and Anne were out there with us and we had so much fun. One day, while Anne was at law school, the boys and I went on a tour of the USS Midway. It was a H-U-G-E ship (a crotchety old man got upset with us when Mike called it a boat), and it was interesting to see how people lived aboard it as it floated around from war to war.
Just to warn you, Dan and Mike had a lot of fun with make believe during this tour.
These are the bunks that crew had to sleep in. I felt really bad for anyone with even the slightest bit of claustrophobia, because there was not much room at all.
Of course, Dan got locked up in the ship's Brig
and had fun taking the wheel where ever possible.
we thought this slogan was funny.
Look at how pretty San Diego is!

don't I look good in a captain's chair?
I think Mike is telling Dan to watch out for a giant iceberg in this one ;)
who knows ;)
If you ever are out in San Diego, I would totally recommend going to see this cool piece of US history. Just be sure to bring a bunch of guys. They make it much more entertaining.

Nor'easter 2010

One of the best parts about being on the East coast for Christmas was that we got to experience a huge Nor'easter while we were there. Even though we have lived at 6,000 feet for 5 years, we just don't see this kind of snow out here.

My Aunt B woke the boys up early the next morning to help with the shoveling. Greg had to borrow clothes from Paul. He looked awesome!

It pretty much made Dan's day to wake up and shovel. But all in all the boys were good sports about it.
I spent the morning wrangling my Grandpa to make sure that he didn't head out there with them, which may have been the toughest job of them all.  :)

It's a Bird... It's a Plane...

It's SUPER CHARLIE!

I woke up on Halloween and decided that Charlie needed a costume. So I spent the better part of the day making him a cape.
And a mask... which didn't work out very well.
His special power was extreme guarding, which he proudly displayed by looking out the front window for the better part of the night and appearing ferocious to all neighborhood children.
His friend Jake stopped by dressed as a bumble bee. This was of course the best photo I could get of the two of them.
I dressed up as an 80s Prom Queen for passing out candy, which was a big hit with the tweens that came to the door.
It was a much nicer look than the Zombie Audrey Hepburn get up I had to wear at work on Friday.
Yes, that's a mimosa in my hand. And yes, it was 10 in the morning. You'd drink too if you had to act like a zombie in front of your clients and colleagues :)

Teachers No Nothing

Dan's back to teaching, which means a healthy amount of paper and projects are beginning to filter in and out of the house. He just got through a short story unit with his 6th graders where the kids also had to make their own movie posters. My personal favorite is below.

He's Got Me All Figured Out

This morning Charlie woke me like he does every morning by wagging his tail excitedly against the wall next to my bed. It is a very effective alarm for me, which sounds something like... clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk and then gets repeatedly faster if I move at all or show any sign whatsoever that I might be awake.

Anyway, I decided to get up, let Charlie out and then in, turn on the coffee maker and feed him before climbing back into bed for a few extra minutes of sleep. About 10 minutes later my alarm dog came back asking to be let out again. So, I got up, used the restroom and went to the front door where I thought Charlie would be waiting.... he was not. Instead his main objective turned out to be taking my spot in bed... and I mean all of it because he is a giant. Here's what I found when I went back in the bedroom.

Here's how he looked at me when I tried to move him...

He knows he took my spot but would not budge at all. He just looked at me with that face and I gave up and decided to get ready for the day.  He's a beast that pup and he's got me wrapped around his giant paw :)

Delightful Blog

Came across

on this lovely blog. It made me laugh. It's funny how too many options makes some things go completely out of hand. If you have a moment or five take a look around and be inspired.
